Notice pay calculator (Singapore)
If your contract is silent on notice, the Employment Act sets a minimum by length of service: 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks or 4 weeks. This tool turns that (or your contract's own notice period, if you enter one) into how much: an estimated dollar figure for salary in lieu of notice, using MOM's own gross rate of pay formula applied to your monthly salary and length of service. It is an estimate to check against your own numbers, not a substitute for reading your contract.
Estimate only, based on MOM's gross rate of pay formula. Excludes overtime, bonus, AWS, and travel/food/housing allowances. Not legal advice.
How the estimate works
Two things drive the result. The notice period comes from your contract if you enter one, or from the Employment Act statutory minimum if you leave the contract field blank. The dollar figure comes from MOM's own gross rate of pay formula, which MOM states is the basis for calculating salary in lieu of notice: for a monthly-rated employee, the gross rate of pay for 1 day is 12 times your monthly gross rate of pay, divided by 52 times the number of days you are required to work in a week. Applying that per-day formula across a week gives 12 times your monthly salary divided by 52; that step is our arithmetic, not a figure MOM publishes. The working-days-per-week field changes the result wherever the notice period being calculated is denominated in days, which includes the 1-day statutory tier and any day-unit contract notice you enter above. It does not change a week- or month-denominated result, because the working-days term cancels out for those.
| Length of service | Minimum notice |
|---|---|
| Less than 26 weeks | 1 day |
| 26 weeks to less than 2 years | 1 week |
| 2 years to less than 5 years | 2 weeks |
| 5 years or more | 4 weeks |

Worked examples
Figures below use a 5-day working week and the statutory minimum notice (no contract override). Your own figure depends on your exact salary, service, and contract, so treat these as reference points.
| Monthly salary | Length of service | Statutory notice | Estimated notice pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| S$3,000 | 4 months | 1 day | S$138 |
| S$3,000 | 1 year | 1 week | S$692 |
| S$4,000 | 3 years | 2 weeks | S$1,846 |
| S$5,000 | 5 years | 4 weeks | S$4,615 |
| S$8,000 | 10 years | 4 weeks | S$7,385 |
If you were retrenched rather than resigning or being dismissed, notice pay is usually only part of what you are owed. See the retrenchment benefit calculator for the separate retrenchment-benefit figure, or retrenchment rights in Singapore for the full picture.

Frequently asked questions
How is notice pay calculated in Singapore?
Start with the notice period: your contract if it states one, or the Employment Act minimum by length of service if it does not (1 day under 26 weeks, 1 week from 26 weeks to under 2 years, 2 weeks from 2 to under 5 years, 4 weeks at 5 years or more), a floor for when the contract is silent, not a cap. MOM says salary in lieu of notice is money equivalent to the salary you would have earned during that notice period, using your gross rate of pay: for a monthly-rated employee, gross rate of pay for 1 day is 12 times your monthly gross rate of pay, divided by 52 times the number of days you are required to work in a week. This calculator applies that formula to whichever notice period applies to you, the contract notice period or the statutory one, so you see a dollar figure and not just a number of weeks.
What counts as my "gross rate of pay" for this calculation?
Gross rate of pay includes your allowances but excludes overtime payments, bonus payments and annual wage supplements (AWS), reimbursement of special expenses, productivity incentive payments, and travelling, food or housing allowances. Enter only the salary and allowances that make up your gross rate of pay; if a large share of your package is bonus, AWS, or these excluded allowances, this estimate will read high.
Does this use my contract notice period or the statutory minimum?
Your contract governs first. If you know your contract’s notice period, enter it in the optional field and the calculator uses that instead of the statutory table. Leave it blank and the calculator falls back to the Employment Act minimum for your length of service, which is a floor for when the contract says nothing, not a cap.
Is this the same as the retrenchment benefit calculator?
No, they answer different questions. This tool estimates notice pay, the money tied to the length of notice you (or your employer) must give under your contract or the Employment Act, which applies to any termination. The retrenchment benefit calculator estimates a separate payment, the prevailing 2-weeks-to-1-month-per-year norm that applies only if you are retrenched with at least 2 years of service. If you were retrenched, you may be owed both: see the retrenchment benefit calculator for the retrenchment-specific figure alongside the notice figure here.
What if my employer has not paid me the correct notice pay?
A shortfall in notice pay is money owed to you, and it is one of the claims TADM and the Employment Claims Tribunals can hear as a salary claim. Keep your employment contract, payslips, and the termination letter or email, then see salary claims in Singapore for the filing route and deadlines.
